Where the demons slip in…

In the silent nights of shivering beams…
wherein the heart lies tucked neatly:
deep asleep in the scourging darkness, but forever
one eye open! watching… reproachfully…
the empty pain…
there once some “comfort” lay: beside,
that is “the emptiness” they say—
the one that one gets
when one half of an obsessive whole forgets
and passes by without a sundry tear
the animus swathes in dark cloaks, watching
with a cruel glint in his eye, forcing out
Projection, and now—
the hurt is all that remains…
it’s the gaping hole, yes, the void
wherein the heart lays… in darkness, bound
by tears and wallow…
where the devil slips in…
his minions sent to separate
heart from all surrounding,
set to the task of mixing the past
with the present… the ache
that one longs for to go away
the desire that it would all change…
that we could keep it, but not in this way…
no more void, just what once was…
but the love had not remained! the void
echoes all the same…
where in the symbiotic weave
a gaping maw spreads like a disease, till
you’re blinded by the black knives against
black satin cloth, tied over your eyes…
so black and shadowed you become within,
that the world out there seems just as filled with sin,
the projection cruelly dances before your hurting eyes—
till everything happy you see, you despise…
there in the depths, at the heart of you
the devil’s minions lie…
a whisper in your head… that this love
should not be dead, that there still is
some hopeless chance to rekindle the joyous dance;
before this here illusion could go:
the devil weaves a new one to grasp for, heart growing cold
the true distraction of meshing weaves…
while the devil slowly puts your heart to eternal sleep…
the void is where the demon’s lair lays
the void within is the demon’s gates…
