Mirror of the slate poetic

Unsheathed… had become
the slate poetic…
swathed in the falsity of aggressive demeanor
had come forth the pale hand, slender fingers
poised, closing, approaching, and—
one touched the mirror’s rustic surface…
the cool rippling through each nerve,
unearthed the desire to feel
more than the cool of its steel edge,
a softer image webbed by the ivy
untouchable and untouched, distanced
just enough…
some wispy past echoes through
the hollow and empty halls
in the comfort of silence, solitude…
no more the confinement of tenacious rhyme,
but a soft poetic journey
through the dark, fruitful mind…
contented by the methodical walls,
infinite passages set delicately
upon the face of the mask…
the only true passage into the calm—
Mirror, show me home…
show me nothing behind me,
but myself alone…
In vertical symbols does the silent book speak
revealing naught but what its readers seek,
the source for engagement…
a warp of time spent in the ageless and unending,
the unbound captive at home once more,
to enjoy the quiet…
of being alone by the company
of the mirror…
