Tonight’s self-loathing

Sit around, let’s have a toast
the dark and misty background morose
we sit back and watch the show…
how the gnarled roots twist,
around what hearts! what’s this?
such a soft little thing to go off and prick… ah,
me thinks its skin has grown a little too thick…
and now… see, alright, this is me.
Greetings! spectators, this indeed
is the being that I call, for now, “I”…
it is something at the moment which has done
what I regard as evil in this eye…
yes, necessary, it was, all of it to the final word,
circumstance be bloody absurd,
and my sojourns and romances between the pages
has left my handsome knight waging
unseen wars and wrought unspeakable truces,
yet all the manner and stance about it
has brought about, dear audience
this little stain you see…
that little filthy mark of self-loathing…
so wrong is the feel, wrong indeed
and that’s just the beginning…
so tainted this heart here feels, you see
those little lines? Some red, some black
some even a sickly green
all of this only further advances
the disease of self-loathing…
tonight, spectators, you will see it bloom
mutant in the glowing blue lab lights
you’ll see the demonstration
of derogatory humiliation pressed close
and pressing so deep so that the veins rip,
we’ll just gently dissect it…
you see these rhythms, these lasers
see how they faze her, how they hurt her so
see that self-loathing just bloom and grow…
Alright, I’m getting tired now, that’s enough…
just put your coffee cups down and shut the lights off…
let the loathed heart sleep gently
and tomorrow it might wake
and remember who she is…
You think she’ll succeed?
