I’ll end up feeling sorry for myself

The cards flip
and as I close my eyes, cease to exist
my cold fingers are frozen
and unmoving, in my depth I regain
the silence that keeps pressing on me
its immaculate chains
the pages are flipped
by nerveless hands
and my mind travels across its short span
without taking in even a detail
of what it is I see
all I’m seeing are the images of silence in me…
in the meditative mode
of coldness, the ache gone
all that I see is that I’m in silence
and alone…
desire has exited my vocabulary
desire to move or exist at all
nothing brings me solace
nor warms my hands magically
only a thought… of the ring
that seems to be a sleeping watch
it, too, is cold to the touch…
but my lifeless lips move
to utter a name or two,
and I remember all
who I life for…
the only thing that forces
the wetness gathering in my eyes to fall
is the squeezing shut of my eyes
and the lashes gather the moisture up
and lets them gently depart…
on their way, carrying grief
and the unending pile of tissues fall from my hands,
and I know I’ll end up feeling sorry for myself
and angry… that I’d been so naïve…
so naïve…
