“It is called magery, ”

“It is called magery, ”
the master told his prentice
it is the art of mastery,
and he should only do it in his presence
for he is young and inexperienced
in ways of the wand and rune
but his time to be bowed to as he bows now
shall come… very soon…
these are the names of things,
this is how you weave
this is the incantation
that your soft young lips doth speak
this is the hillside of practice
where we shape Lord Mage out of apprentice
and here it is, that you’ll lose yourself
to the powerful storm
that is magery…
“It is called magery, ”
the sorcerer said in a knowing whisper
and the taunting of knowledge dangled before him,
prentice expresses his hunger…
“yes, my young falcon,
“yes my little tree…
“you would desire to use that power—
“perhaps… even on me.”
No, master! wait with this verdict!
speak not of which you do not know…
the prentice may be eager and starved,
but never lapse into forebode…
your Seers ability kindled with blue flame,
may open the ivy wreathed books before you,
when some injured voice inside you implores you,
but never condemn a young falcon’s fate
to killing his master in the end…
that is the sign of the wisdom
being put to the wrong end…
