The woman in the romantic movie…

by Widdershins
 Age Group: Adult

Part I.
What sort of sad ending that never ends – like a walk in Paris or the canals of Venice— all memories, and almost like a fantasy or a romance— that’s what sad goodbyes mean to me, only… these are never true could I actually do that to you? say goodbye like in a movie and sail away… probably not, I decide, the woman from the romantic movie of years outdated and still cherished today in romantic hearts, the lady of enigma with her gloved hands, waving goodbye as the steam sets the engines sailing her away… overseas back home— to where? to her European home that lady of style and etiquette that had captured the heart of a man she met, and had to leave – “c’est fini”, she calls softly, but the tears in her eyes betray that she had not said goodbye today, and it is never the end… her sunshine smile, with red-hued lips, the smooth skin and lushly darkened eyes, they blink back the promise she would betray when gazing too long, far away… the soft sounds of the gentle jazz coincide neatly with the waves the sunshine isn’t hidden by the small, fluffy and white clouds and the warmth envelopes the sadness in daylight’s comfort “it’s never goodbye, ” she whispers softly under her breath… but is caught by surprise when arms suddenly take her so easily— how had he found her? without so much as an effort— was she that obvious? her breath catches… …the woman in the romantic films, well yes… romantic at best, at worst— an emotional test, to see if I might survive existence in the less subtle and more difficult times where the woman in the films sleeps inside, and the shell goes out conquering— not for me at all… “c’est fini, mon amour…”
Part II.
In the blue waves of sickening certainty, the omen of death seems to overwhelm me, but then— a strange image captures my attention there stands an image of someone I’ve seen, who could it be? a lady of stature and elegance she looks at me mysteriously, understanding— oh, lady of such fine dress, with finesse and the cunning of a feline on a hunt going out for the man she wants— who are you, and why are you in my head? “you summoned me, ” she replies: my mind draws a blank— I’ve gone insane, that’s it, there’s some outdated lady telling me all this, that I summoned her figure – from some romantic literature? am I insane she doesn’t fit into the picture today! I’ll go along with my usual prowess and step-and-glance, without the soft calls and with the dangerous looks, without the dress and with the enigma’s hook she is no wolf, but a movie figure, I however— differ…
