You think I didn’t notice?
Age Group: Adult
You think I didn’t notice?
that I am truly blind…
I can hear it behind your words,
from the look in your eyes.
If I could call you back
and tell you the way things are…
would you have listened to me…
would you have heard at all…
Things are hurting you?
you didn’t want to say
but you know that every time you looked at me,
I could hear it anyway.
There’s nothing going on around me
to provoke this feeling from you
but all you see surrounding me
you believe to be true…
So there are things in your head?
constantly providing litanies of misinformation
they feed you thoughts you never would’ve had
had you listened to my innovations…
You’re working hard to keep things up
but you’re hindered with doubt and fear
I’ve been slowly peeling its mask off
but now you shroud it in your tears…
You’re protecting the wrong thing
it is not my words you should deny
but the false ideas in your head that toll and ring,
while to the silent way I am obliged.
So you’ve noticed that I don’t stick to you
with a permanent sticking charm
that I’m perhaps drawing away from you
this is the cause of your harm?
Who’s the blind one here!
what use is there to fear,
something that’s never come about…
something that causes such doubt…
Is it truly experience that has
dragged you into this mess
must I constantly be reminded of your past
with your every whisper, caress…
How long must I walk in the shadow
of people who’ve exited your life?
How long do I have to endure their gloat of yours
as they begin to unravel mine!
Can you not see the distinction,
between me and everybody else?
Can I never, ever be accepted
exactly for who I am as well?
Am I truly condemned
to always follow the footsteps of other women
who’ve tainted the life of those
who I’ve ever reached out to and chose…
It’s hurting you that my past haunts you
while yours is eating away at me
you feel terrible pain to see me here,
when you don’t realize you make me weak…
Give me back my past,
and take back your own
you should be concerned with what happened to you,
and let me confront mine alone.
Once we mixed up other things,
energies and places…
now it’s the past that’s flittering
and each of us search through it in mazes…
You’ve projected yours into me
and now I can see as you unwrap my own
when I would not touch it in front of you
that pain is mine, mine alone.
Would you wish some sort of light
to be cast down the tunnels of my past
so you could see that all I’ve ever wanted
was to be by your side at last…
Do you seek proof in the dusty hallways,
as you shine a light everywhere you go?
Because all you’ll find here is pain,
and a sting of betrayal, you know…
You don’t have to be unfaithful
to betray my trust in you…
all you have to do is drag out everything
and try to prove to me that I don’t love you.

Author's Notes: Here it is, the "sequel" to Theater of Past Lives. No, it's not a real sequel, it is neither in the same style, nor does it have the same angle, the only thing that makes it a possible sequel is that the topic is the same.
Btw... Theater of Past Lives is better in my opinion.
So, the line-for-line response.
