A matter of pride
by Widdershins
Age Group: Adult
Honor stands alone
in the fields, the temperamental zones,
where flowers bloom freely
and without shame
it’s just a matter
of honor again…
the sun’s honor
is not tainted by the allegiance
between himself and the clouds
that cover his circumference
and pass in front of his noble brow
and their honorable interaction
is the agreement of space—
sometimes the sun shines…
sometimes it’s gone without a trace.
The honor of the trees
stands tall, silent, strong, proud
they remain unaffected by breeze and wind—
and only sometimes make a sacrificial bow
but it takes mighty gusts
to bring down a tree
and no wind could ever quench
the splendor of their flourishing green.
Their compromise between
themselves and the world
are the roots that coil down
to hold life together with each curl.
their promise to the air
is that they feed its needs
as long as the wind
doesn’t blow down too many trees—
with each gust, a tree complies
to put song on these wings
with each flutter of a breeze
a bird is carried to the them by the winds.
Each flower, no matter how small
has an obligation…
to stand tall.
