About Hate

If hate were a flower
It would be wilted & full of thorns
They would twist in your side with deathly power
Tear at you with a gaze of scorn
If hate were a couch
It would be uncomfortable and black
You'd jump up and say 'ouch!'
It would hurt your arms and break your back
If hate were a cup of tea to drink
It would be brimming with poison brew
Its taste would be a bitter one I think
It would make things twist as they flow out of you
If hate were a slipped in note
It would be marked by a large stain
Lines would be hurtful and they would gloat
Words would writhe in agony and pain
If hate were a feeling in hearts
It would stab images and ruin dreams
It would play with life like darts
It would split apart sanity by the seams
If hate were something real
Then I would sit down now to cry
If it had to be so cold as steel
I would be faced with it and say I'd rather die
If hate were a must in life
Then I'd cringe away till I'm plunged in
And then I'd keep asking why
Why it has to be like this, this world I'm in
If hate were a product of the imagination
I'd say it came from a twisted mind
Who fell into the traps of hate's illusion
That we all fall into at one point in time
If hate was the ruin of love
I'd scream and try to point out
That we left it abandoned just so we can push and shove
Love, we dared to forget and to doubt...
If hate came from the dawn of time
Then I'd wonder what it came with
One side of a whole, the other side must shine
Because hate is so strong that its opposite must be the reason we live...

That last line said it. Hate can be so powerful, and this world is filled with it, that its opposite must be the greatest thing in the world - and it is!
