Echoing Halls

by Widdershins

Age Group: Adult

Slipping into the patterns
Of day after day
Forgetting the bright lantern
That won't lead you astray
A place long abandoned
It's story becoming untold
No one to seek the phantom
And the story he would unfold
As each time it grows longer
Stretching into the nights
Of the few we become fonder
From their sparse company comes our delight
Upon each head does this strange thing rest
Weighing on our minds
Not always catching us at our best
Ignoring our past finds
Where once friends laughed whenever they could
Now silence settles restlessly on their lips
Never to say what he or she should
Always losing our grasp of the things on our finger tips
A never-ending story
Ever winding down
Plunging into the depths of lost glory
Never again to be found
Sprinting across empty halls
Echoes at your heels
You know not who calls
Nor can you explain the sudden emotions you feel
A lost glint in haunted eyes
Is swallowed in the dark
But there is no one to cry
All of them did depart
And like sailing to the Undying Lands
They weep a few and sail off
Never to take up again their battle stance
And to forget the touch of love's soft
A missing friend gone across the sea
Watching as the shore falls behind
Eyes streaming, waving sadly
Letting go of her gown to the deck to find
Treating raw pain rather badly
An awkward silence impends
Looming over hopeful smiles
And in strings and chains we depend
Upon each other after a while...

Author's Notes: [Um, yes, a website, but it's also about my life in a way. I like the way it came out. It's about the same site I wrote about last time (I can't remember what name I listed it under at the moment) .]

I renamed it now, I kind of feel it rather pointless to address a website and keep that as a title... XDDD 'sides, this one could very well be about me anyway. Although, it got into the "Fantasy, Legend&Myth, Cruelty, Darkness" category... one of my favorites... XDDDD
