Prodigal

I was not of the kind to fall to my knees
Never did I don a supplicant's cloak
Silent, in all of my prayers and my pleas
Noiseless did I the great Gods invoke
Yet now I do bow, back brutally bent
And press to the floor my mortal face
All of my doubt and my ignorance spent
I praise my Gods for their majestic grace
And now they do lift me up, kind and strong
That which they give me I do not deserve
And although to them I did terrible wrong
They forgive all I did, all my insolent nerve
After so long spent in confusion's dark night
All Other Gods I have finally spurned
My Gods take me home, back into the light
The prodigal son of Olympus, returned
Author's Notes: This is basically about a lapse I had in my faith a while back. Turned back to Christianity. Then I realized that was a bad idea, this is about that moment.
The title is kind of a snub to Elizabeth Bishop's own poem, 'Prodigal'. Which, personally, I found lacking... Any rythym whatsoever. Anywho, enjoy.. Feedback is appreciated.
