It was young twilight hour.
Affording bay breeze
Ruffled the hairs.
Kind moon beams
Stroked the cheeks.
Fading stars
Winked at me.
lazy saline waves
Shoved my humble
boat in tether.
Who?
Who calls me
from the other side?
Is it you O Beloved
Waking me up from
The ignorant sleep.
Has my time come?
To make the last journey
Holding your hands
Rising like a duet
In my parting symphony.
Yes, Dearest
Finished all
Duties I had.
Each half tasks
taken care of
No one to be sad.
Don’t you see
How peacefully
Sleeps my
busy world?
Let me deck up in
Red Benarasi Saree
I weaved from
The blushing horizon.
Let me put the
Red bindi on forehead
That I stole from the
Setting crimson sun.
Let me darken my eyes
With kohl powder
gifted to me by
the dejected nights.
Let me strum my veena
With one last song
So that it floats in ether
In my absence later.
Let me touch my garden
this final hour, so that
The forget- me- not blooms
Tomorrow and ever after.
Let me walk barefoot
And feel
one final moment
My earth, my root.
Let me light a candle
Before your holy throne
‘Look after them’, I
Whisper, to your idol stone.
I hear the ringing bells
From the extinct temple
The humble boat beckons
The moon beams kisses
The perfumed breeze caress
The cosmic stars blesses
I am ready
More than ever, ready.
Here I come my Lord
Here take my hands
Here I go as a Queen
To your kingdom divine.
