orcra and kokowai

dance in earth red colours birthing red hue of
stone of the maori way you say in legend thay say.
when papatuanuku seperated from rangis divine
embrace , and red orcra was used on the body sacred
to the earth goddess. legends of early maoris state
that kokowai mixed with shark oil was good protection
from the turehu or (FAIRIES) who would steel away
warrior or maiden, and of course the colours were
apon wahines birthing places as a warning or tapu,
as to not enter.
lastly the kokowai colours flax and image of tane
the god of the forest.
Author's Notes: the turehu or patupaiarehe were afraid of the iron within the orcra or kokowai mixed with the oil from plant or shark, so the old legends state the turehu are what you would call fairies.
