The Sacred Grove

Mighty trees reach high to the deep blue sky above,
Golden sunlight dances upon the pine needled floor,
As one enters here they may hear a playful skittering,
Laughter and the sound of small voices joyfully singing,
Beware all who enter here for the Good Folk are about.
If they allow you into their home you must be very careful,
For they can be tricky and dangerous if they so wish to be,
Away they may seek to lure you into their realm deeper still,
There to keep you for a year and a day if heed them you do,
Always I leave an offering to them so that I offend them not.
When amongst the magestic trees I feel calm and at ease,
Such a gentle and protective feeling they do give over me,
Whenever I visit this sacred place I treat it with respect,
Each time i bring them gifts of food or perhaps a seedling,
I feel welcome in their grove beacuase I did this.
I hear them dance and play among the tree trunks around,
Hear their singing and the sound of their merry laughter,
Truly are they magestic and amazing in their sheer being,
Always I am humbled when I encounter them in their grove,
The Good Folk who I know well.
Beneath the leafy canopy I do sit and listen to their songs,
But forever careful am I not to take any food or drink away,
For if I do I will be trapped in their domain for some time,
I know their tricks and what they may try to do if I am slack,
But never have they threatened me in anyway.
The proud old trees grow all about and every singe side,
And the ground beneath my feet is thick with old needles,
Of pine they are and magestic indeed is this hidden grove,
Always the eyes of the Good Folk I feel watching me,
But so far they have been friendly to me when I visit.
