invokation to Hecate

by harley hashman

Age Group: Adult

EVOKATION OF HECATE

Come, Hecate, of the three ways,
Who, with thy attenant shades have been alotted
dread roads and harsh enchantments.
Hail pale light, Ruler of Tartaros,
Beam which whirls up out of darkness.
Destiny is ere subject to thee.
Of serpents are ye dark, serpent-haired and serpent
girded.
Enodia riding down from Thessaly leading a host of
shades, meet with us at thy crossroads three.
World tree, thy roots reach Hades' realm to suckle
upon the essence of the dead. To thee the corruption of the
grave is nectar.
Thou art the bridge between the deathless and the
mortal. Thou art the petitioned, the avatar of the witches.
Daughter to Demeter, Enodia, hear,
Propitious regent of each public way amid the bright of
day, nor less in the terror of night's darkest hour.
Beginning and end are within thee, from which all mortal
things are either birthed or else receed to their end.
O Hecate, as thou movest the adamant door of Death,
so may you in covenant be the fulcrum from which we witches
move all else immobile.
Hark, where the curs growl in the town, the Goddess
is at her crossroads.
Thee of the three faces, who raises up dolorous cries
with trifold mouths to shake the world.
The nether gates and Lethe's sacred spring, primal chaos
and the illustrious chasm of Tartaros, every mortal being,
each star-flecked mount or hidden vale, the forlorn echo, and
the daimons throughout all worlds, these all shudder when
they hear thy dread voice.
Now give us a sign, the cry of a cur or the call of a
raven, the ring of a bell or the moan of a shade, that thou
art here at our petition. Through thy covenant with Artemis
and with Jove we ask thee and call to thee, and invoke thee.
Rise, Dark Mother.
REGINA EX SAGA.

Moon Charge of Hecate

Come, Hecate, goddess of the three ways
Who, with thy fire-breathing shades
Hath been allotted dread roads and harsh enchantements.
Hecate, I call to thee with the voices added of those
Untimely passed beyond with tasks unfinished,
those who perished without a spouse,
and children with yearning in their hearts.
You knoweth our undertaking well.
You come to enpower our spells and our art and lend
potency to our herbs.
Through thee, the avatar of witches, we petition
Olympos.
By Zeus' decree do thou sway Fortuna and the Fates
And briefly grant the power devine to mortal frames.
I shall drive the clouds and bring on the storm.
I shall move the forests and bid the mountains to shake.
I shall call the dead to rise from the tombs.
I shall call to the wild beasts and they will grovel and
lick my hand.
I shall shake the World-tree and set its branchs
atremble, where the planets hang like fruit.
Goddess of Darkness, Grim Mother,
Grant me this and more besides so I can do thy work.
I can, bereft of thee, do nothing.b
