The Romany Road

I dreamed last night of a dusty road
Upon which the travellers slowly strode
Beside cart horses pulling caravan
Here is community, and here is clan.
I listen but they speak an unknown tongue
An old language well kept alive among
Themselves as part of their way to be
Customs retained, and charms to see.
The vision fades back into photo grey
And image is still, no words to say
But for a moment, I was back there
I sensed, I saw, and I could hear.
