Are they remembered?

Age Group: Adult
Are they remembered?
Are they remembered?
Do their loved ones still care?
Do they know that they lie alone?
As they slumber there.
The birds gently singing
Time wanders down the years
Do they miss the summers passing?
Or mourn the long dried tears
So soon are they forgotten
Left to perpetuity alone
Initials of a once-loved one
On a battered leaning tombstone
And so I’ll let them sleep on
As is their right and due
And I shall depart here silently
Away to pastures new…
