You said once that you loved me
As you took me by the hand
You begged me to talk to you
To be there for what we planned
You said once that you loved me
And I showed you what you could be
Now that you are almost there
Have you tired of loving me?
You said once that you loved me
But you never saw my words or heard my voice
You said that you felt lonely
And you’d be forced to make a choice
You said once you loved me
Is that our story still?
Or do I see our love a’wanderin
Shoulders down, defeated, over yonder hill
You said once that you loved me
Its something you often say
But I feel so alone my darling
Please, my love, don’t drift away.
