Wasteland

These eyes have never been gazed into
These lips have never been kissed
This hair has never been stroked
and this heart will never be healed
My wings will fold around me now
and I will pray to my Goddess
I will pray for the death of your memory
and then throw it onto the pile of husks
the empty shells of love
which will haunt me forevermore
I would have died
would it have made you smile
and now your smile is to die in me
The smile that cracked this icy heart
but drew blood instead of melting ice
waters that would clean my soul will be frozen in my veins
I can see my breath in this cold wilderness
but you can't even see me
Am I lost in a blizzard?
or were you looking at her?
The Snow Queen
and I a lowly spirit
a lost and lonely ghost
The wolf's howl locks the night
in its angry, mournful way
Pieces of my soul are flying in the breeze
I try to pick them up
but they lie just out of reach
I've never been held in arms like yours
arms that could reach the pieces
Go with your Snow Queen
at least you'll be smiling
It'll all be okay
as long as you're smiling
I can die here alone
as long as you're smiling
I'll fake off the pain
as long as you're smiling
Won't have gone mad in vain
as long as you're smiling
I froze quietly today
because you were smiling
If you know why I'm this way
then why are you smiling?
As you watch me fade away...
Why won't you stop smiling?
In this wasteland I'm drained
and we'll never be seen smiling
together.
Author's Notes: Sorry about all the poems on unrequited love but this is the only vent I get. Hopefully there'll be a Yule one pretty soon.
