The News

The News
Welcome to the News they say
With whosisname & whats’erface
Where we tell you of the misery
Happening in far distant place
Where the coalition star once shone
In Iraq many more are dead
A government minister is long gone
For giving rent-boys head
And whats worse they always smile
While the putrid tide flows your way
A teenager raped and murdered
A mother and daughter blown away
I honestly don’t know which is worse
Mass murder or the local news
A matchstick-model making vicar
Or 15 years in the same pair of shoes
Another crash at an accident blackspot
Which goes right in and through the head
We’re deluged with so much garbage
We don’t notice another 4 dead
And thence from news to weather
Cheery goodbye from one and all
And by that point you just don’t care
Your evening spoiled by bitter pall
‘We’ll see you tomorrow at the same time’
For another grisly murder or ten
And you wonder for the N-th time why you watch it
But tomorrow it’ll be on again…
