memory

what have I remembered
what have I forgotten
a memory stirs in me
of still winds and ice caves
deep water rippling waves
images of long gone time
here now I catch it
soon it will fade away
snatches of bright dream
of friendship and laughter
reflections on water
tales of long ago
although the memory stirs for an instant
another place- another time
memory is a strange thing
here now and gone soon
who can hold it fast
always the longing, it seems so wrong
that we are left without our time
