In the Darkness

Do you see me now?
No, you don’t.
My light’s gone,
Just as you said.
I’m not frayed or broken,
Just tired, just worn
In need of a good rest
A long rest.
Do you remember,
When we were there?
The spotlight glaring?
Burning us through?
The neutral dark
Is now my balm
To heal my wounds
And soothe me calm
With you close by,
Growing ever faint
And soon to be gone
A spark, gone out.
It’s cold here now,
A bitter sweet chill,
Blackness envelope me
Keep me from harm
The welcome numb of darkness
My ever peaceful slumber
As night wraps around me
I feel a chilling peace
