Never To Be Whole

Age Group: Adult
Time stopped still,
And I couldn't move forward,
Memories of the past,
Hitting me like a ton of bricks.
I remembered you,
As I did, and forever do,
You’re the thought in my mind,
And in the beating of my shrivelled heart.
People told me, you wouldn't look at me twice,
But you did, thrice,
And that's what my problem is,
You conquered me too, just like the rest.
My mind, heart, body and soul,
Entwined with you for one night,
Blissfully unaware,
About the scars that I now bear.
How many others were conquered before me?
Am I really just that one night stand?
An uncared for jewel, that sparkles once,
Thrown away like a used toy.
I’ll forever have these questions,
Of “Did you love me to?”
Or will they remain unanswered,
Just like you left me, never to be whole.
