Ankerwycke's Hellfire Caves visit

Hellfire Caves Ritual
Tunnels deep within the earth
Caverns hewn from stone
Celebrate your spirit birth
But don’t come here alone
We’re chanting, hear the echo?
Feel the drum’s loud beat
But children stay together
Stay firmly on your feet
Perhaps the Goddess comes this night
Perhaps she’ll touch your souls
Perhaps you’ll hear her call your name
Or hear the bell that tolls
Deep within the Mother Earth
Feel her life within
Recognise the energy
And let the night begin
The voices that are whispering
You know not what they say
Are tempting you outside the cave
It’s safer if you stay
Shadows move, what touched your face?
An elemental force?
Or the part of you that wavers
On its uncertain course
Remember we are not the first
To feel earth’s embrace here
Other souls have gone before
And charged the atmosphere
Sir Francis sometimes visits
This old mysterious cave
Three hundred feet above you is
His cold and lonely grave
So be the wary one tonight
And check the people near you
Perhaps they’re not quite of this world
Perhaps they even fear you
So huddle close together
Let none of you be daunted
Just because they tell you that
Hellfire caves are haunted
Dear Pagans all and Witches
Let nothing you dismay
We’re bold enough together
To scare them all away
Why not touch your neighbour
To see if he is real?
Or could it be he just appeared
To answer the bell’s peal?
Will your hand go through him
Or feel his solid arm
And are you getting scared now
And fear he’ll do you harm?
Move closer together now
Don’t wander off alone
For there is strength in numbers
And Dashwood has come home.

Author's Notes: Knowing the pagan history of the Hellfire Caves at West Wycombe, a group of eclectic pagans got together and have hired it for Friday 10th November 2006. It has been the subject of Most Haunted, the TV programme and is full of intrigue. We have opened this event to anyone who wants to come and this will be just a 'one off' so if you're interested, contact us now.
