Eternal Summer

I'm running up that road we know so well,
That familiar summer, the soft sweet smell,
Of fuschia, jasmine and blades of grass,
We don't care to think how long it will last,
I'm running up that hill so green for miles,
We sit in the sunset if only for a while,
The burning clouds only drift over our heads,
The best moments are the ones left unsaid.
I'm running up those stairs that lead to my room,
Thrust open the windows to see the garden in bloom,
I call to the rest standing below,
Singing and shouting off we go.
I'm running down that hill night drawing in,
Still smiling and laughing hands joined in the dim,
Barefoot and carefree, immortalized days,
Here is where our happiness stays.
I'm running down that road, flowers braid my hair,
Into the car we stumble, let the music blare,
A cool wind relieves us from the summer's heat,
Content but weary we listen to summer's beat,
I'm running down those stairs, blankets in hand,
Into my friend's back garden, staring at the stars so grand,
Six sisters, one lifetime, and though our paths may part,
With memories you can always go back to the start.
Author's Notes: A poem for the amazing summer's in years 9 and 10 spent in and around Luisaidh's house. Everytime I think about it, it seems like I'm right back there and I can even hear my friends calling me to join them crazy as it sounds. Never have I had more happy memories. I hope there will be many more to come.
