The Injured Knight

Age Group: Adult
An injured knight, struggling home,
fresh wounds keep his face tight with pain.
Sitting stiffly astride his strong, black horse
Dark blood flows from his veins
As the knight journeyed on, fear in his heart
Dark clouds wiped the stars away
lightning flashed and thunder roared
and he longed for the light of day
Fighting through the wicked storm
man and horse trudged on for hours
through the wind, mud and rain
he shed tears for summer flowers
a fallen tree blocked their path
they could not journey on
the wicked rain attacked them still
by morning, both were gone.
