The Garden

Age Group: Adult
There is a never-ending garden,
Where I often spend my days,
Where merciless jungles ensnare and entangle,
Where dangerous creatures lay.
The paths I walk are treacherous,
Where it's not hard to lose your way,
Where your own fears can imprison you,
Where I often stay.
The twisted trees they tower,
Contorted with deceit,
Roots absorbing depression and hatred,
Pulling at your feet.
The venomous fruits it bares,
Were grown in contempt for she,
Fed with ferocious slander,
Watered with jealousy.
But this garden is more perilous,
Than Blake's Poison Tree,
More sickening than Mary's Flower,
For this garden was planted by me.
