May eve
The maypole stands tall and proud
waiting, fot the celebrations of mayday to start.
All decked out in the finery of the season.
Red and white ribbons aflutter in the air
like the tail feathers of some exotic bird.
But this is May eve, and the night
belongs to lovers,
creeping of into the woods to celebrate
an age old tradition of abbandon
to bring summer in with their lovemaking.
Then the day itself dawns and the maidens dance
weaving the red and white ribons together.
Uniting the blood and semen,
of the Stag god and His consort together
in an orgy of fertility
Bringing life to the land.
