Maiden castle.

Age Group: Adult
Maiden castle is shrouded in mist
and clouds skulk along its top.
Ghosts clad in armour prowl at its foot,
legions far from home.
Then, from the mist come more apparitions
these the rightfull dwellers of this place.
With them comes the sounds of battle
screams and cries fill the air
leaving me locked in the past,
Gasping for breath.
Then the sun breaks through driving away
the mist and clouds.
And I find all was an illusion.
The battle sounds flee chased by the song of larks
for this place of destruction has become
the home of butterflies and birds.
