Whilst Sitting Under The Chestnut Tree.

Age Group: Adult
Sitting, musing under the chestnut tree I realise
that we are the same age this tree and me.
(Fifty three for those interested)
Some would say that there the similarities end,
But oh how wrong they would be.
We were both planted by loving hands
him as a conker.
me as well you get the picture.
We were both watered and fed, and grew
little by little, but allways towards the sky.
The same sun shine warmed us
me my skin and him his bark, till,
one day we were full grown.
Ah! but you are sentient and have a mind
I hear you exclaim!
and he does not is my retort.
We are the same age this tree and me,
but I just live to quickly.
