Give peace a chance

What is this thing
that some pagans have
in the need to call
themselves warriors?
thinking, they are in some way
an avatar of Boudica.
Do they not see the oxymoron
inherent in that
way of thinking.
To be a warrior
means to do war,
such a lovely turn
of phrase that I'll
say it again "to do war".
To kill,
maim,
and destroy
in the cause of your
belief or tribe.
Are you so enamoured
of the past
that you see some
sort of glory there
worthty of emulating?
There was none
it was all
mud,
blood,
and guts
No knight in
shining armour
protecting the poor.
But I can here you say
we need to fight
for our rights
or they'll burn us again
So I will leave you to do
your warrior dance.
As for me I will
in the words
of the great bard
"Give peace a chance"
