Sacredness

Age Group: Adult
Sacredness.
What is sacred to you
in a world that holds
so little sacred?
Is it a book of words?
Written centuries ago?
Telling you how to live,
and what God finds
acceptable.
Do that, don’t do this.
Love this person
and not that one
especially if he or she is
the same sex as you.
Or are you like me and the thing
you hold to be sacred above
all others
is love itself.
Love for all of creation
in its myriad forms,
animals, trees, stones
everything that our
Mother has created.
The only book that I
will follow is the book
of life, to stand tall and proud
and be what I am.
The only commandment
I will obey is to love
whoever and whatever
is worthy of my love.
So find what is sacred to you.
Write your own rules and
Stand tall in your belief.
