Winters imagination

Age Group: Adult
Where have the winters of my imagination gone?
Winters where Jack Frost played at being an artist,
creating abstract pictures on my window panes.
And houses were transformed into fairy palaces
by icy icicles hanging like the sword of Damocles
ready to skewer some poor unsuspecting soul
who ventured beneath them.
Then there was the joy of the first snowfall virginal
in its whiteness untouched by the foot of man, oh
the remembered happiness of the crunch that fist
step brought followed by another as you explored
this world of whiteness. Knowing that the next night
would bring a fresh new canvas for your feet.
These times may be just a memory now but
Maybe...................... this year.
