Amber Dragon On a Sunlit Rock By the Sea

She sits in his warm light.
Cradled by the stone below,
Enveloped in the light above,
Splashed by the waves
That froth around her
And foam at the base
As they crash.
His light glistens off of
Her golden scales
That reflect out little stars.
The cool rock feels hard
As it rubs against her scales.
Her cold blood protects her
From the sun's heat.
Silver clouds dot the shining sky
That stretches out above her
In a meticulous dome
As the sea splashes out her song
Of energetic rage
Beating to the harmony of the hard rock.
Her deep brown eyes gaze out upon the sea
At this hour that creeps closer to sunset.
The sky matches her hue.
It is like amber
And her scales act like a mirror
Allowing the sky to view it's present reflection.
The sea deepens in hue
No longer a glittering turquoise
But deepening in brown
The sun glittering as it moves
The wind blows into the dragon's wings
Her cool body shivers as they open.
Fire pour out her mouth
As she sings her farewell.
Her wings open as the sea splashes her feet and claws.
She rises like a golden phoenix,
The amber dragon, takes to the sky
As the sun dips beneath the waves
In order to rest his rays.
Author's Notes: It's not really based on any myth or legend. I came up with this poem after seeing a notebook with a beautifully done picture of a golden dragon on it while out shopping.
