Tis the night of Yule

Age Group: Adult
Tis the night of Yule.
And the witches gather at the forests edge
all clothed in their finest garb.
Dressed in cloaks and robes of myriad hues
for this night is a celebration
of the returning of the light.
The High Priestess and Priest lead the way
holding lanterns high to guide us
to the foresst clearing.
There to find a wonderous sight
lights hanging from every branch
gaily illumine this sacred space.
And there in pride of place
in the clearings centre
the Yule log ready for burning.
They cast the circle in perfet love
and trust to protect
us witches this night.
The priest his voice ringing out
invites the Lord and Lady
to attend anmd sanctify our rite.
And then the log is set ablaze
in deep symbolism of the returning God
in the light of the fire.
The dance starts witches
circling the fire raising the energy
to speed the returning God.
Faster now faster for the dawn
approaches nearer and nearer
and then the sun bursts over the horizon.
The God is born their task is done
and now the party can begin,
to celebrate the birth of the year.
