Ethereal (Part 2) Kathy

by Moonlight Wolf
 Age Group: Adult

The sun shone down upon Kathy Who's face was bright and bold. She shaded her eyes then saw her friend Calling her name She bounced down to meet her.
"What was it?" Asked Faye. "That you were doing At his Lordship's house?"
Kathy smiled and the world smiled too. For she had a little secret. "I was just seeing how his Lord ship was." Was her reply to the question.
Now Faye, being of sound mind Knew her friend better than that. For Kathy was such a notorious flirt. If there was a man, she never kept quiet For it was her nature to flirt.
She had been with his Lordship, No doubt she was closer than most To the man with the house And lots of money But still Faye knew better Than all the gossips in the village.
"Do you know what they say About you Kathy?" Faye asked her charming friend. "They say you are too forward and bold And that you milk his Lordship through feelings."
"What, you accuse me?" Kathy exclaimed.
"No! Never!" Faye cried, Fearful she had hurt her friend. "I'm just telling you what others say. They do not like you for it."
Kathy shrugged with a skip and a hop And told Faye her concerns lay elsewhere. Faye smiled for she knew good Kathy Would never take heed of what others said. She was proud and a free spirit. A true child of wild nature.
How Faye envied her For her shyness could never match Kathy's spirit. She cared for her friend And would never see her harmed.
However for each action that Kathy would dare take Faye was sure there was to be a consequence. Should the the air turn vicious The men would be kept away And Faye to would be forbidden From being a good friend to Kathy.
Yet Kathy just laughed and said. "We will meet in this place That you promised to show me When the working day is done. You claim that it is solitary And that no one shall ever see. Should we ever be forced Away from our friendship."
Faye agreed, but with a little hesitation For her father preyed on her mind.
Kathy then looked at Faye's face All lined with worry and fear. "Tell me Faye, dearest friend What is this place you promised To show to me and the others?"
Faye relaxed and saw in her eye The small clearing in the middle of the woods. "It is where I sit at the end of the day When the sun is about to set. As it dips beneath the trees I sit beside a green stone And all the days worries seem to wash away."
Kathy looked at her overworked friend Concern in her usually bright eyes. Yet Faye now seemed to be peaceful in her mind So Kathy did not press the matter.
The two walked along in silence Around the houses of their neighbours. Faye in her mind was miles away So Kathy let out a laugh And suddenly changed direction Dragging her friend along with her.
"Let's go Faye." She said "To the pub where the others wait. You promised to tell us all So we will go there to find them And we can go and be merry. You spend too long in your life afraid And you never seem to smile. Leave your father at the door of the pub And let us have fun all the night."
So Kathy quicky rushed the other way To the shock of Faye and passer bys To the pub where light was streaming out And the sound of singing could be heard.
Author's Notes: Well here's part 2. There's still a lot more to do yet so bear with me. I'm tempted to write out "Next time..." but I won't.
