Blood Moon

Riding hard in the Moonlight's silky glow
My horse pants hard, neither of us knowing where we go
The power of Her light now burns within our blood
My companions hooves beating firm and fast upon the mud
A fiery ethereal gleam rages in our eyes
I gaze up to Her beauty, seeing the clear star-studded sky
The energy that flows between our bodies
Swirls around us fuelling the embracing Lunacy
Her touch is different with the Moon blood red
There is no thought, just a feeling, coursing through my head
The pleasure we both feel as we charge on
The separation between body and spirit now totally gone
Our blind dash draws slowly to a close
Dismounting, she begins to rear in her own impassioned throes
Both exhausted I rest my head upon her nose
Across my arms and body, the sweat in the Moonlight glows
Lying down in a patch of long cold grass
Catching a wildcat's spying eyes, as torches through yellow glass
Starting back I walk softly by her side
Physical energy gone, it is on spiritual energy I ride
We take till dawn to get back to camp
The morning mist making skin and clothes damp
I guide her back to her warm stable
Until i reach my own bed i push on as best I'm able
I prepare to sleep to the light of the new day
As I pull blankets up upon me, my mind swiftly,
Drifts,
...Away.
Author's Notes: This started off from being sat in the pub at lunch, i headed down there as i hadn't had the chance to get off until about 3, so it was unlikely i was going to do much work when i got back anyway as it would have been an hour before heading home. So i sat and ate and had a couple of ales and thought about a subject i could write about while i relaxed. It took me about an hour and a half to write, hope you like it!
