Gaurdian of The Woods

The first mists descend, upon the Winter ground
Bird huddled together for warmth,
don't sing their cheerful sound
The path before me shrouded, within this blue-grey veil
The last colours of Autumn
Behind this mist begin to pale
Moving through this woodland, the eerie silence barely broken
Breath as though a dragon's smoke
Words are dared not spoken
Stepping cautiously through the shadowy wilderness
Entering a grassy clearing
scented by mist and snowbells sweetness
Moving to the centre of the natural wild theatre
Ghostly forms dashing past
Then back into the fog they flitter
Following a spirit at the corner of my eye
Freezing at the sight of the Stag
Its antlers curling high
A lifetime seems to pass, with this figure standing there
As though his eyes can read the soul
With that deep foreboding stare
Finally he breaks the lock, to sniff the passing breeze
Then the sight of Him is quickly lost
As he moves off through falling leaves
The heart beating as a drum, pounding out a marching sound
Heightened senses hearing dew drops
Dripping to the ground
With clear thought haste is made, to start the journey back
Stepping carefully keeping to
A naturally beaten track
Unseen eyes stare down upon me, as I make my way
Taking notice of the hour
And the fading light of day
Above the wood the sky has turned, a pale shade of red
The images of things I'd seen
Keep running through my head
I bid a fond farewell to where I feel the Watchers stood
And pledge that I would meet again
The Guardian of The Woods.
Author's Notes: This poem took me about a month and a half to finally finish, having even written Blood Moon in between. I'm not very fond of this one as much as others i have done, and i think its because I have written it from my own viewpoint. I'm not sure the feeling or the images get across so well when things are written like that.
Anyway, i hope you enjoy it.
