Ethereal (Part 5) The Power Haunt

Age Group: Adult
In silence they entered a clearing
Where Faye looked on in serenity.
Before them was a green rock
As if made of emerald or jade.
Faye walked forward slowly
And knealt at the rock's base.
She melted into a calm reverie
Much to the puzzlement of her friends.
They watched as she simply gazed
Off into the distant sky
They were baffled, and also bored.
So they tried to call her over.
However Killian put his hand out
And warned them to pull back.
"Do not go near her." He ordered
"For I think she might be possessed."
Now they all looked at him puzzled
And Trixie gave out a laugh.
"Even if she was possessed." She heartily cried
"Faye wouldn't do a bushel of harm."
"But suppose and evil spirit
Inhabits that odd coloured rock
Faye would never be able
To help herself
Should she be possessed."
This was Killian's argument
But none of them would hear it.
For although Faye acted a bit strange
They knew she was too nice to be mean.
So Faye continued to sit
And Trixie started to puzzle.
"All I see is a rock.
How can that bring her peace."
Kathy then intervened
"Perhaps the rock is cool
Or perhaps the rock is warm
Or perhaps it's just the colour
That makes Faye feel calm."
"I cannot explain any of this
But one thing I will say.
To Faye this must mean a lot
Considering what she must have to
Put up with at home.
I believe she needs the strength."
Trixie was happy at this
It was sound enough for her
But Killian then stepped in
"The strength drawn here is false."
"I feel nothing in this place.
It has no magic.
It has no power.
Faye is leading us to a lie."
Faye's head snapped towards him
With such a crestfallen look
As if all the sorrow in the world
Had been heaped upon her heart.
Kathy then slapped Killian
Upon the side of his head
"You are an utter idiot.
Can you not see this is personal
To Faye?
It is important to her
So please let her have her reverie."
Killian merely shrugged his shoulders
And they all looked at him strangely.
Since when was he such a judge?
Since when did he hurt Faye?
Since when did he not respect others?
Killian took a deep breath
And then let out a few words.
"The Holy Guide forbids this place
And says Karmia will fall.
Unless we all go under the Holy Guide's will
I was chosen as his messenger
To give out his warning and offer.
Should we ignore it, knowing our fate?
I say no! Embrace and leave the Haunt be."
"Oh shut it Killian!" Trixie sighed.
"No one's interested now.
Let's just go and have a good time
You've done enough upsetting for one day."
As they all turned to leave
Kathy jumped around Killian and hugged him.
She then said with a cheeky laugh.
"You said embrace and leave the Haunt be."
At this they all laughed
As Killian pushed her away
And laughed further still when he ran
But wondered what happened
To their cheerful, good hearted friend.
Author's Notes: Part 5 is here, earlier than normal but considering I'll be rather busy tomorrow I thought I'd get it out of the way. Hope you enjoy it until the next part comes along.
