The Midnight Garden
by Pangur-ban
Age Group: Adult
In the midnight darkness
of my garden I silently sit.
All is dark, save for the wan light
from a yellow gibbous moon.
The air is still, there is no breeze
to move the vegetation.
Silence surrounds me broken
only by a Church clock,
chiming the witching hour.
As I sit my body slows to the
rhythm of all that surrounds me
Suddenly my spirit takes flight
and travel where it wills.
Will it take flight with brother Owl
who sits above me hooting
in the tree.
Or join with sister cat who hunts
her prey on silent paws.
But then I feel a different call
That of my mother Gaia
beseeching me to let my spirit rest
held fast in Her comforting arms.
