Ethereal (Part 7) The Past

by Moonlight Wolf
 Age Group: Adult

It was the following day When Faye returned to the Haunt. Still shaken and upset By what Killian had said. Leaning against the green stone The criticism rang through Running circles through her mind.
Kathy had followed her here Knowing the state that Faye was in. She stood at a distance Thinking of how To comfort her friend.
"How can this place be evil?" Faye called out to the trees "When all it has done is offer me Some comfort from the Life I live at home."
Kathy stood and shook her head "Just ignore Killian's words For he seems to be not himself. I think his head may have turned Perhaps through some accident Or illness that has hit his brain"
Faye sighed sadly Thinking of a time Before Killian began his Ravings of evil and chaos. A time when he'd treated her With kindness and pity.
It had been when Faye Was just fifteen. She had been carrying dishes To be washed after the evening meal. As she steadily trod away from the table Her father's foot was outstreched And she tripped on it Dropping each dish So each one was either cracked or shattered.
"You stupid wretch." Her father screamed. "Can you do nothing right? You who allow our dishes to fall Do you not look where you tread? How could my wife have Given birth to someone As useless as you." He then took a stick and Beat poor Faye Until her skin was swollen and bruised.
Faye begged his forgiveness Her mother sat and sobbed But still the beating continued.
Finally when he thought He had done enough He roughly dragged her by her elbow And threw her out into the rain.
Faye trembled and shook As she was soaked to the skin Not sure whether the water on her cheeks Was her tears or the rain.
Killian then walked by On his way home from helping a relative. He looked at her and asked Why Faye should be out here in the rain?
Faye told him of what had just passed The way her father treated her. Killian took her hand and led her away. He took her to his home . Both his parents were asleep. They had drunk too much On his father's birthday.
Killian helped her dry herself And told her to stay Until the rain had stopped.
So an hour ticked away With the rain outside Slowing to a stop. They talked together And Faye thanked him For the kind turn he had done her.
Once the last drop of rain had fallen Killian escorted home. Her father was waiting in a fit of rage And when he saw her, In a fit of rage He dragged her inside Screaming slut at the top of his lungs.
"You dare go away with him Away with a boy Think of the shame."
And on he went Until Faye had had enough And fled to her room alone.
Kathy looked at Faye As this tale was recounted. "There is some good in him I am sure. Yet recently as you have seen He has become judgemental, A person who only sees What he wishes."
So the two friends Continued to wonder What was to become Of their friend Killian
