Sacrificial Gods

In the dust and heat
on a hill in Palestine a God hangs
suspended in space.
Bloody and disfigured.
Who is this God man Jesus?
that two thousand years later
so much division is caused by his name.
Is he Mithra's whom shepherds adored?
Osiris who sat in his mothers arms
the archetypal Madonna and child?
Or Odin who hung suspended
from the world tree?
Sacrifices so many sacrifices
death upon death a history of blood.
The Gods are calling out to us
to grow up and be responsible
for our actions the only sacrifice
needed our own.
