Ethereal (Part 13) Arrested

by Moonlight Wolf
 Age Group: Adult

It had been dull and gloomy And it was late in the day. Many had said that It looked like rain would come.
Faye had rested By the great green stone That was the centre Of the Power Haunt.
She made her way home As the sun began to set. Watching for lights That came from homes She trod carefully Not wanting to be injured So she would be able To face another day of work.
However as she saw The first house looming close She knew that there Was something wrong, For no light came from it.
Faye looked towards The next house, No light was there either. At this point she wondered Whether something had happened.
Quietly she wandered Through Karmia Wondering why All the houses were dark.
Normally little lights Shone from them As the sun went down And the moon arose.
Further through Karmia she went Seeing not one house with a light. She passed the pub, Even that was in darkness.
Soon she saw the entire town Gathered around her house. Faye rushed forwards In a sudden panic. Had something happened To her parents?
Not really wanting to Draw attention to herself Faye swallowed the feeling Of shyness in her throat And asked the nearest man What was going on.
There was no answer The man moved aside To let her through.
Faye meandered through The sea of townsfolk Muttering 'excuse me' And asking for passage.
Suddenly she saw her mother All tied up and knelt down. Her father was being dragged out And he too was forced down and tied.
The ones who did it Wore brown and gold robes, Hooded and hiding their faces, Some holding torches.
Faye's father saw her and Cried out in anger, "This is all your fault, slut."
The robed ones took one look Seeing Faye in a state of confusion. Two rushed upon her Grabbing her arms Faye was silent To nervous to speak. She knew not What was happening to her.
"We are the servants Of the Holy Guide." One said. Faye instantly thought of Killian. Had he sent these men To tie up her family And grab hold of her?
"You will be taken to The woods to be tested."
So the robed figures Dragged Faye to the woods With her parents towed behind Still tied.
Back past the houses, Back towards the trees, Torches lit the way As Faye was dragged back Back to the woods.
The stopped in the spot The very spot That Killian had heard The Holy Guide tell him About the deceit of The spirit of the Haunt.
"Oh Holy Guide Speak out your will Tell us what you make Of this woman before you."
(At this the Holy Guide exclaimed "She is the one Who stays at the dwelling Of a spirit of a foul and deceitful nature.)
Faye did not hear anything. Yet her parents went white in the face.
"Why I knew you were naught But a very wicked slut." Her father said.
"Please do not hurt my Faye." Her poor, frail mother said.
Both were hit on the head For their troubled words.
("She has forsaken My path into all goodness. What else can she be but evil.")
"Oh Holy Guide Gracious light upon the great souls And who leads the misguided To their salvation. What is your will regarding her?" The robed ones said.
"Wait I cannot hear." Cried Faye. She could not. To her they were talking to air. (A load of hot air, Trixie and Will would have said.)
("You see what has happened to her, You see what that spirit has done. It has made her deaf to me And she refuses to hear me. Take her to where all enemies dwell, Take her to Jared Hallows.")
"You are to be taken away." The robed ones said. "Taken to Jared Hallows. Only the most wicked rest there So we are sure a deafened woman Like your wicked self Would find no quarrel with others In such a foul and forsaken place."
Faye's parents spoke up Her mother spoke forst.
"My poor young Faye. I cannot believe she is evil, She who's hard work Has helped carry me through My many years of ailing. Please let her stay, I am unsure whether I could cope without her."
The robed men attacked her Hitting her several times. "Leave her alone!" Cried Faye, Only to recieve a blow or two herself.
Her father spoke next Although not in loving terms "You can't take her away, Who'll cook my meals And clean my house."
"You have a wife." One of the robed said.
"She's too ill." Faye's father complained. "She couldn't sweep a floor without pain."
"You have health." Another robed one replied. "You clean your house As your daughter is now arrested."
Faye was dragged Back through the village Up through the gates And into the darkness of the forest.
She had been now Named as an enemy To the Holy Guide.
Such was the task Of these robed men and women To take her down To the horrid Jared Hallows.
Author's Notes: Well I hinted about this in my notes to part 12. Faye's parents get a bit more of a view here, although they won't really develop much.
Don't forget that these are now coming in on a daily basis rather than a weekly one so if you've missed a part, or think you've missed a part (ie: it doesn't make sense) then check my listings for any part you might have missed. That is, if you like reading this rather bizarre load of wierdness.
I do warn you, it gets pretty mean from here. (Well Killian gets mean anyway. And crazy.)
Enjoy anyway.
If you're not bored.
