Ethereal (Part 17) Nightmares

by Moonlight Wolf
 Age Group: Adult

Lightning flashed In the darkened sky And many snakes Crawled on her belly.
She laid their Terrified By the feeling of them Crawling upon her.
The wind howled And the trees shook With its utmost strength.
Trixie called out She needed help She wanted to be freed From the coldness That surrounded her.
Thunder crashed in the sky So loud that Trixie felt The crash in her chest. The snakes hissed Over the howling wind.
Her arms would not move Her legs were tangled in vines. She could not escape if she tried.
Trixie shivered and let out a cry That was drowned out By more thunder anf lightening.
One branch was hit By the blue and white flash It caught fire And fell near The vines that had caught Trixie's foot.
Some leaves caught the flames The snakes slithered away And the flames slowly spread Towards the vines And Trixie's entangled feet.
She screamed Trying hard to free her foot But even as the vines were burning Trixie had no luck.
Her skirt caught the flames And they rapidly spread about her. Poor Trixie screamed And the ate at her skin Burning, white hot Pain searing through her body.
Another fiery branch Fell on her chest And the fire increased dramatically. Trixie was trapped In insufferable heat.
Slowly the flames Neared her head Catching her hair Frying it.
Trixie screamed And with all her might Forced herself upwards.
Only to find, Once again, That it had all been A horrible nightmare.
Many days had passed Since Killian had mentioned Will's alledged betrayal. More followers had joined More footsteps gone by. Trixie felt the aches and pains.
But she would bear these forever To rid herself Of these nightly terrors.
Somehow she knew That to sleep again Would mean another Fright to face.
So in the many nights to come She stayed awake For as long as she could But it was inevitable That she would sleep And another terror in the mind Would come.
Kathy and Seamus Grew terribly concerned For Trixie was going to be ill If she refused to sleep.
So on one night The three went to him To see if the Holy Guide Could cure Trixie's terrors.
Killian looked at them When they asked this.
"The terror that you have Trixie who is so bold and brave." (He said this with such Dripping sarcasm that Trixie nearly slapped him.)
"The terror that you have Was sent by the Holy Guide As punishment for Such irreverence And insolence And such lack of respect."
Trixie shook her head. "The Holy Guide Show no respect It insulted both Will and Faye. How can you follow such a being That has to create such fear."
This was said weakly For Trixie was tired Deprived of all peaceful sleep. Her head was hurting She felt sick. All she wanted Was for her terrors To go away.
"Sacrifices must be made." Killian said quietly "We all must give up something If Karmia is saved By renouncing Will and Faye Then I will do so. And if you too Wish to have peace again Then you too must Give something up."
"What of Kathy and Seamus? Trixie asked him "What have they given up?"
"Kathy gave up Lord Karmia Seamus gave up his family And we all sacrificed our Comforts and pleasures To come on this pilgrimage."
"Then is that not enough?" Trixie did ask. "What would the Holy Guide Like me to give up?"
Killian looked at her In a casual and offhand way.
"What you must give up Is much easier Than what Kathy or Seamus had to. They cut their hearts in two To come along with us. Your sacrifice is simple. Very simple. The Holy Guide just Wishes for you to submit To its will and leave Your spirit of irreverence behind"
Now Trixie fell silent And prepared herself For another night of horror.
To tell Trixie to be Submissive and obedient Is almost to ask The wind not to blow The rain not to fall And the sun not to shine.
Such was this awful time For poor Trixie Who was not one To take things flat Who had to stir Who had to be loud, That she fell into What could only be described As an absolutely horrid depression.
Author's Notes: Poor Trixie. Well I hope this part is not too horrifying or violent for you. How will Trixie cope with her nightmares? Perhaps a solution will come in future parts.
