Ethereal (Part 21) Mission Brief

Age Group: Adult
Killian had dreamt
A dream from the Holy Guide
One that was to change
His future and
The futures of those
Around him.
Before he saw
A weeping Lord Karmia
Sobbing over the loss
Of all love that
Kathy had given him.
Killian pitied him
But the Holy Guide
Would have none of it.
"Do not be taken in
By this foolish man's cries.
He is doomed for all
That he has done."
Then Lord Karmia's past
Was clear before Killian's eyes.
There were many women
Who had loved the old Lord
When he was not so old.
He saw three women
Surrounding the Lord
Embracing him
And telling him of their love.
Yet each one was blindfolded
Scarves tied around their eyes
And also deafened
By the scarves around their ears.
Killian felt his stomach
Knot in disgust.
The Holy Guide may never
Want such a thing to continue
And Killian knew
How much Kathy loved Lord Karmia.
However the old Lord
Had been far from lonely
From the moments of puberty
To the moments of old age
He had always had a girl
Or a woman on his arm.
Even now, Killian saw
Lord Karmia flirting
With one of his servants.
(Yet she being proper
Witheld from him.)
What could Killian feel
But disgust for this man.
He who abused women's feelings.
"I do not think it would help much
For Kathy to know what I've seen."
He said.
"I agree." The Holy Guide replied
"For this would shake her too much
To make her question her faith
And she of all your friends
Is the most faithful."
Killian nodded simply.
"I have work for you all."
The Holy Guide went on.
"The last part of your journey
From gathering and sharing my wisdom
Is to return to Karmia
And purify it
By eliminating all those
Who are a stain upon the world."
Killian felt his breath become short.
Something told him
This wasn't right.
"Will anyone be hurt?" He asked.
The Holy Guide simply laughed
And numbed Killian's mind
With a blinding light.
"On a specific day
You will enter Karmia
Rid me of my enemies
Who are there on that day.
You will clean Karmia
And send my wrath
Upon that wicked town."
Killian did not question
For the Holy Guide
Had gone too deep.
"On that day, not a single enemy
Will be left standing in Karmia
All will perish
All who are on my list.
They shall perish upon that day."
"What shall that day be called."
Asked Killian, as if to give
The Holy Guide some emphasis.
The Holy Guide answered
With just two words,
Not many,
Just two.
Those words were.
"Death Day."
