Ethereal (Part 24) The Horror of the Hallows

by Moonlight Wolf
 Age Group: Adult

Life in Jared Hallows Had become very hard. Not just for Will and Faye But for all who lived there.
The servants of the Holy Guide Hardly gave them any food And the floors were getting worse. (For the servants now refused to clean them)
They were worked Until they collapsed Where they were allowed A little sleep. (About an hour or two.)
They would break rocks They would till the ground They would do tasks That literally had no point.
For all that they could do Was simply pummel the earth. No sun shone So they could not grow plants.
All they were fed on Were the leftovers from Other towns and villages.
Will kept his watch Upon Faye and noticed She was getting thinner.
Her bones were stuck out And he feared for her health. How he wanted to speak out To stop Faye from starving Yet he never noticed That he too was thinning And that his hair was falling out.
Faye noticed this But decided not To say a word.
Many around them Had died. The elderly lady who had Been in the Hallows Since childhood. An elderly man who Was deaf in both ears. Many more were dying still.
Will had now become Quite afraid for himself. Were he and Faye Going to starve to death too?
Even Faye Who had worked all her life Under her father's cruel eye Found life at the Hallows difficult.
One night (At least outside Jared Hallows) Faye decided to confess Her feelings to Will.
"How I wish I could Go and visit the Power Haunt To help me with my strength. Not all the beatings of my father Could ever be as bad as this."
Will simply shook his head "If we are to survive In this dismal place Then we must bear Each others' burdens Until we can get out Or until we die."
However it was a Good few days later When Will was answering A call of nature That he overheard their Future in Jared Hallows.
Two servants were talking Which cause Will to rush away.
"The Holy Guide Will no longer have To ever worry about these animals. For the two Death Days are upon us.
"The first will rid us Of such duty from ever Having to care for such vermin Ever again. For they shall be excuted Every last one."
The other nodded.
"And when we are done with These horrid scum We will proceed to Karmia That horrid and wretched town Of vice and folly."
The two servants Pulled faces at The very mention of Karmia.
Will rushed back To speak to Faye And he told as many As he possibly could About what he had heard.
When the servants were away The inmates of Jared Hallows Could only do one thing To save themselves.
They decided that they Would raise a revolt.
Author's Notes: More Jared Hallows. I hope what's in here isn't too disturbing but you can guess that the next part is going to be interesting.
