Ethereal (Part 28) A Shining Example

by Moonlight Wolf
 Age Group: Adult

All was quiet After Killian had proven The existance of the Holy Guide. Even Trixie was quiet, Needing time to reflect On what to do.
The followers were shaken In what they had seen But their faith was as strong As it had ever been.
Kathy felt nervous But she knew now That the Holy Guide Did exist. It was not a fable.
Seamus of course was Deeply affected. He knew that what Killian had said was true But he did not know What to do about it.
The Holy Guide existed And it had a lot of power But yet it still had caused Suffering to Trixie And did not seem like a Benevolent being.
Seamus spent time away From everyone else To allow his mind to clear.
Suddenly in his mind He heard it.
"Coward." The Holy Guide mocked. "You refused to defend What my messenger was saying You failed to open your mouth And allowed him to be mocked By Trixie and Kathy. You were not strong enough To speak out against them To say that the mockery was wrong. You have been a failure But there is still a chance for you."
Seamus jumped up In absolute shock And rushed over To see what Killain made of this.
"Killian." Seamus cried "I heard it, The Holy Guide was in my head."
Killian sprang up His face plastered with joy And he rushed up to Seamus And gave him a bear hug.
"Seamus you give me hope For the Holy Guide has honoured You with its very presence In you mind And because it has done so You must be marked as One of the faithful and good. I knew I could rely on you."
Seamus did not feel pleased He felt embarassed And wished he'd just kept His mouth shut about it.
More followers praised him And said how holy he was. Seamus felt the whole thing Turn into a circus.
"Here people." Killian cried "An example to you all A shining example To show that you can still Gain the blessing of the Holy Guide. Seamus old friend You have done me proud."
Seamus wished that Killian would simply shut up. (I imagine Trixie Would have wished it too But for different reasons.)
Killian continued to praise Seamus as righteous and holy. In Seamus's eyes The Holy Guide had clearly Not told him what had been said.
Kathy and Trixie Looked at Seamus in shock And also in pity. They knew how he hated Being the centre of attention.
Seamus asked Killian To put away the praises And simply focus on The last leg of the journey But Killian simply praised His modesty to the extreme.
Deep down Seamus Felt a terrible feeling Within his gut And he wanted to leave So he could clear his head.
Later he went over To see Trixie Knowing she would understand.
Trixie looked at him With a bit of mistrust But allowed him to talk.
"You know how Killian Says I am a shining example." Seamus whispered. "I am not and never can be. I do not submit I think too much about it." He was saying.
"At least you still Have a brain in your head." Trixie returned. "Killian seems to have let his Turn into nothing but mush By listening to the Holy Guide."
The two talked a while About what had happened On their journey. They knew Kathy was hurting Being told Lord Karmia would die. They knew Will and Faye Were probably in danger Of the Holy Guide For it seemed to dislike them. What were they to do?
Seamus went to bed With a great and heavy heart Wishing that in the beginning Before the journey had started He had refused to come And had stood up to Killian So he would not have to Watch this train of events unfold.
However then in his head. "You could not have refused. For you heard my call And you saw the vision I summoned you. Even if you had I would have Named you dead Like Lord Karmia, Will and Faye. You are such a coward But you are worth the trouble. A mind as bright as yours Is worth looking at."
From that Seamus knew The only reason the Holy Guide Was in his head Was to mock him And nothing more.
