Ethereal (Part 38) Kathy's Final Visit

by Moonlight Wolf
 Age Group: Adult

Kathy headed towards Lord Karmia's mansion. She was going to see him One last time Before he died.
Her heart was heavy And she was holding back tears. She hurried inside Noting the old lord's servants Watching her rush in.
Lord Karmia was Where she expected Him to be sat, By the fireplace In his drawing room.
His eyes looked tired But were still full Of happiness on seeing Kathy come and visit him.
Kathy went up and Sat by him Feeling sorrow rise Through her like A stormy sea.
His condition had worsened And he looked ready to go. Never in her life Had Kathy felt Such anguish in her heart.
He took her hand and smiled But his smile had a tinge Of great sadness to it.
"Kathy my dear." He said. "I am glad that you Have decided to pay me One last visit."
Kathy nodded Too upset to speak.
"I have heard that They were coming And that I am going to die."
Kathy took a deep breath Trying to avoid crying. But it was no use The tears coursed down her cheeks.
Lord Karmia gently Put his arms around her. "Kathy I am sorry That I must leave you But we both know That my time in this world Is rapidly growing short."
Kathy had to agree For the servants of the Holy Guide Would soon come To kill Lord Karmia.
"Kathy you have brought me Much solace in my old age. I remember the first time You and I crossed paths. I had fallen and you helped me up. I could only repay you With my own hospitality. From then on you came To keep a lonely old man Company in his last years And I cannot thank you enough for it. You have brought much laughter To my life Kathy."
Kathy took a shaky breath. "And you brought it as well. You always were witty."
Lord Karmia smiled and shrugged. "Not much good is wit When there is no one To share it with Or to appreciate it."
Kathy agreed She was crying now Knowing that there Was not much time.
"An old man like me Can not get very far. If I were to try and escape Even with your help I would not get very far. My old frame holds me back." Lord Karmia then shook his head. "If you were to try and help Then they would kill you too."
Kathy nodded Knowing that He wanted her to leave. She gave him her last kiss, For she could hear Approaching now The servants of the Holy Guide.
They were shouting jeers At the old lord And praises of the Holy Guide. Lord Karmia heard them too.
"Kathy do these last Favours for me. I want you to get my servants out Take them to the back door For they are sure to come Through the front. I also want you to go And do not grieve For too much or too long For you have a long life Waiting for you to embrace it. I would not want fun loving Kathy To remain sorrowful forever. You shall soon find love gain For your flirting Shall know no bounds."
He smiled at her. "Go."
Kathy rushed through the house Telling the servants Lord Karmia's wishes. Out of respect for The kind old Lord Karmia They obeyed and rushed out The back door.
Kathy looked back as Lord Karmia's servants Rushed away.
"Goodbye." Was all she said.
A servant rushed back And pulled her away.
The servants of The Holy Guide Burst through the front door Crashing through The grand house Breaking all they could. Fabrics were set alight And they ransacked, They trashed, They destroyed.
Lord Karmia Dabbing his eyes With a handkerchief Over seeing Kathy And all his servants go Waited for them to arrive. They broke down the door And saw him there. At that point he simply Held his breath And waited for it.
Author's Notes: The hardest part was making sure the two set of servants were not mixed up. Anway I hope you enjoy this part and don't think of me as evil for holding back Faye's fate from Part 37, you'll get more tomorrow.
