Ethereal (Part 42) Grief

by Moonlight Wolf

Age Group: Adult

Dawn broke
Over a scarred Karmia
In the woods
Will awoke and looked over
To see the bodies
Of both Killian and Faye.

Both had the puncture
Of Killian's sword
While Killian's hand
Rested on Faye's arm.
A final beg for forgiveness
And an apology.

Will looked
And before he realised it
Tears fell down his cheeks
As he was overcome
With grief and a feeling
Of helplessness.

Two of his friends
Were now dead.
They had been young
And full of promise
But the events that had
Unfolded in the run up
To Death Day
Had caused them
To die unnaturally.

Killian had a heavy
Share of the blame
As did the Holy Guide
And all of its servants.

Now there was the time
To clean up and go forwards.

Will went over
And woke Seamus up.
He too seemed deeply affected
By what was before them.
They calmed themselves
And headed back
To Karmia,
Now broken but rebuildable.

On their way
They found Trixie.
She awoke looking victorious
For she had led people
And had told them to stand up
For themselves and their friends.

However on hearing the news
Of what happened
To Killian and Faye,
Her happiness was cut short.

The three friends rushed
To find a grieving Kathy
Mourning the death
Of Lord Karmia.

The four of them went over
To the rest of Karmia
Who were mixed
In their feelings.

There was shock
At what had happened.
Pride at being able
To stand up for themselves
And sorrow at the death
That had been caused.

The bodies were gathered
A pyre was set
And the village finally
Said goodbye to their
Deceased friends and relatives.

Afterwards the four
But could not help but wonder
Who had really won.

Faye was dead
So the Holy Guide
Had a victory.

People were still
Alive and filled with
A sense of self worth.
That would mean
A victory for free will.

All they could ask was
Who had won?

Author's Notes: So who has won? The answer will be revealed in the final part tomorrow as well as the aftermath for the remaining four friends.
