Snowfields of Skali

Snowfields of Skali
A thousand shimmering crystals alight before my gaze
Blinding with their brilliance in dazzling icy shades
Breath plumes before me, the wind is at my back
I gaze around and wish for nothing , I will never lack
The Birch Lady, the Oak Lord, the Ancient Pine stands tall
With a whispering winter breeze surrounding them all
The warmth of the sun, the chill of the air, the softness of the snow
Is brought about in this brief time for those who begin to know
That in this season of darkness is also the brightest light
The shimmering days do battle with the starry longest nights
Out in the snow fields both can be seen in all their seasonal glory
To some the beginning, others the final chapter of a story
